FALL 2008 LIVING HISTORY DAYS

Two or more living history demonstrations will be presented on Wednesdays during the months of October and November. Visitors will observe 19th century domestic and farm chores being performed by costumed interpreters. The schedule for these demonstrations is as follows:

October 1   School Marm, Quill Pen & Ink Writing, Townball
October 8   Candle Making, Crosscut Sawing, Corn Shelling & Grinding
October 15   Cider Making, Toys & Games, Butter Making
October 22   Sheep Shearing, Quilting and Spinning
November 5   Open Hearth Cooking, Meat Curing and Sausage Making
November 12   School Marm, Quill Pen & Ink Writing, Townball

On each Living History Day, the demonstrations will be offered from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. A visit on a living history day will include a tour of the historic buildings. Demonstrations are subject to change in the event of inclement weather. Organized groups as well as the general public are welcome. Ask our staff members about age appropriate activities. SCHOOL GROUPS SPECIALS

Open Hearth Cooking and Christmas Program is December 9, 11, and 16.  SCHEDULED GROUPS ONLY.  Whizzer "Button on a String" toy making is available for a cost of $2.00 per student.  Groups are encouraged to schedule their visit as early as possible to ensure available dates. School Days during January, February, and March for 3rd, 4th and 5th grades only - On Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 AM participants can "attend school".  A school Marm will teach 19th century lessons.  Students will also make a copy book, participate in a spelling bee and write with quill pen and ink.  Limited to four classes per day.  Cost: two dollars.  Groups are encouraged to schedule their visit as early as possible to ensure available dates.
