The Administrative Staff consists of Sheriff Carey A. Winders, Major Glenn Odom, Captain John Winstead and Office Manager Emily Smith. Sheriff Winders is ultimately responsible for all operations of the Office. The Sheriff oversees and maintains physical control of the financial budgets, planning, and development of new programs and Divisions to increase the quality of life in Wayne County. Sheriff Winders also pro-actively works with all Divisions of this agency.
In the Sheriff's absence, Major Glenn Odom maintains many of the responsibilities of the Sheriff. Major Odom also maintains all aspects of the Wayne County Detention Center including the financial budget and purchasing. Captain John Winstead is head of operations when the Sheriff and Major and both absent. Captain Winstead is responsible for the Training Division which includes continuing education for all Officers and maintaining all Officer Certifications. Captain Winstead is also in charge of purchasing for the Sheriff's Office and Motor Fleet Management, which maintains all Sheriff's Office vehicles.
Office Manager Emily Smith is responsible for
all clerical tasks within the Administrative Staff. She is a personal assistant to the
Administration and maintains all of the financial records for the Sheriff's Office and
Detention Center. |
