Currently there are 12 Detectives and two assistants in this Division of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. This Division is supervised by Det. Capt. George Raecher and Det. Lt. Tom Effler. As a general rule, most cases forwarded to the Detective Division will be of a very serious nature, suspicious circumstances or heinous in type. Crimes investigated range from Forgery, Breaking/Entering to Rape and Murder. For these reasons, all detectives have been highly trained in specialized areas such as: Dealing with Sexual Assault Victims and Suspects, Arson Investigation, Death Investigations, Computer Related Crimes, Crime Scene Processing and Advanced Search and Seizure Practices just to name a few. All registered Sex Offenders that fail to confirm an address will also be pursued by a Detective. All Detectives work very closely with the Wayne County District Attorneys Office. This helps to ensure proper legal practices before apprehending experienced criminals who may try to escape prosecution on technicalities. |
