The Wayne Information Network met on August 23, 2001 at 4:00 PM on the campus of Wayne Community College in building AA, Room 219.  Shirley Jones, Director of the Wayne Community College Library and the library staff  welcomed the members to the meeting. The following were in attendance.

Members were welcomed by Lovely Forte and the agenda was distributed. The meeting was called to order and a welcome was extended to all newcomers.

The minutes of the May  2001 were read and approved.

Old Business:

The information for a Union catalog has been turned over to a worker at the public library in order to merge the data files.
 

• Flyers from the Seymour Johnson Base Library were distributed. They have moved in to new facilities and invited members to attend.
• Gene Jackson is now the webmaster for the public schools.
• Suggestion was made that in the future a round table be held to share new and emerging activities of the libraries in WIN.
• Future discussion ideas:
• Interlibrary loan for schools
• Untangling the web
• Services of libraries in the county
• Vendor presentation
• With difficulties in scheduling meetings, it was suggested that the 2nd Monday in the appropriate months be the standing meeting time, unless it is a holiday.  This requires a by-laws change and was tabled.
• Library assistants will be invited to meetings in the future. Email addresses for this individuals should be forwarded to Diane Kester to be added to the listserv.

Program:

Dr. Diane Kester, chair and associate professor in the Department of Librarianship, Educational Technology, and Distance Instruction provided the program on professional growth.
